I went to Bear Cottage after a fundraiser in 2014 where I dressed up as Deadpool on a train and somebody called the police in case I was a total nutter. Bear Cottage is a hospice where kids with terminal illnesses and their families can go and spend time, with all medical and personal needs met for the entire family, so they can focus on time together that isn't spent managing debilitating symptoms. It was a place of incredible joy mixed with unfathomable sadness.
I wrote this after I got home; in part catharsis, to get that moment down on page, and in part because I had to wonder what I'd say to my own children in such a circumstance.

Dedicated to those incredible parents and those extraordinary staff.
